Apixaban Factor Xa inhibitor for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation and blood clot treatment.
Apiban contains Apixaban, a Factor Xa inhibitor anticoagulant that prevents blood clot formation by directly and selectively blocking Factor Xa in the coagulation cascade. Unlike warfarin, it does not require routine monitoring of coagulation parameters and has fewer food and drug interactions. Apixaban reduces the risk of stroke in atrial fibrillation and treats venous thromboembolism effectively.
Purpose
Prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) after hip or knee replacement surgery, treatment of DVT and PE, reduction of recurrent thrombosis risk.

Warnings
SERIOUS BLEEDING RISK - can cause fatal bleeding. Risk of spinal hematoma with neuraxial anesthesia or spinal procedures. Do not stop suddenly without medical guidance - increases stroke risk. Discontinue 48 hours before surgery (24 hours for low-risk). Not for use with prosthetic heart valves. Inform all healthcare providers. Prescription-only medicine.
Side Effects
Bleeding (most common): unusual bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, heavy menstrual bleeding, blood in urine, bloody stools. Other: headache, vomiting, nausea, anemia.

Store at room temperature below 30°C. Protect from moisture. Keep in original blister packaging. Store out of reach of children.
