Astadol is a combination analgesic containing Tramadol, an opioid agonist, and Paracetamol (Acetaminophen), a non-opioid analgesic. This dual-action formulation provides synergistic pain relief through complementary mechanisms: tramadol modulates pain perception in the CNS through opioid receptors and monoamine reuptake inhibition, while paracetamol reduces pain and fever through central and peripheral actions. The combination offers enhanced efficacy for moderate to severe pain.

Purpose

Treatment of moderate to severe acute pain, chronic pain when other analgesics are insufficient or inappropriate, post-operative pain, pain from injuries or medical conditions.

Warnings

OPIOID - ADDICTION RISK. May cause respiratory depression and death. Not for children under 12, adolescents under 18 post-tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, pregnant women, breastfeeding women. Risk of serotonin syndrome with SSRIs, MAOIs. Seizure risk, especially with history of seizures. Long-term use associated with cardiovascular, GI, renal complications. Do not stop abruptly - withdrawal symptoms. Impairs ability to drive. Controlled substance - prescription required.

Side Effects

Sedation, sweating, nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, headache, vomiting. Serious: respiratory depression, seizures, serotonin syndrome, addiction, dependence.
