Atorva 40mg delivers high-intensity statin therapy with Atorvastatin, achieving maximal cholesterol reduction (typically 48-55% LDL lowering) for patients at very high cardiovascular risk or those not achieving targets on lower doses. This strength is indicated for secondary prevention in patients with established atherosclerotic disease, acute coronary syndromes, or severe hypercholesterolemia. The 40mg dose provides near-maximal efficacy while maintaining acceptable tolerability.
Purpose

Warnings
Contraindicated in pregnancy, breastfeeding, active liver disease. Higher dose increases myopathy risk - monitor for muscle symptoms. Baseline and follow-up liver function tests. Drug interactions particularly important at higher doses. Elderly patients may require dose adjustment. Avoid excessive alcohol and grapefruit. Report muscle pain, weakness, fever, malaise. Side Effects
Higher dose associated with increased incidence of muscle-related symptoms, elevated liver enzymes, nausea, diarrhea, headache, nasopharyngitis. Serious: myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, hepatotoxicity, new-onset diabetes.
