AUGMENTIN 375MG TAB (18S)
Augmentin 375mg tablets contain 250mg amoxicillin (as trihydrate) and 125mg clavulanic acid (as potassium salt). It is a combination antibiotic: amoxicillin is a penicillin and clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Used to treat bacterial infections when other antibiotics may be ineffective.
Purpose
Treatment of bacterial infections: respiratory (sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, ear, dental and other susceptible infections.
Ingredients
Amoxicillin 250mg (as trihydrate), Clavulanic acid 125mg (as potassium salt).
Warnings
Do not use if allergic to penicillins or cephalosporins. Tell your doctor if you have had liver problems or jaundice with this or similar antibiotics. May reduce effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Not suitable in severe kidney impairment without dose adjustment.
Side Effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, rash. Less common: thrush, allergic reactions. Rare: liver problems, convulsions. Stop and seek help if severe rash or swelling.
Storage Instructions
Store below 25°C in a dry place. Keep in original pack. Use reconstituted suspension within 7 days if applicable.
