Rosuvastatin high-potency statin for effective cholesterol reduction and cardiovascular protection.
Axalor contains Rosuvastatin, a highly potent synthetic HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that demonstrates superior efficacy in LDL cholesterol reduction compared to other statins at equivalent doses. The 10mg strength provides significant cholesterol lowering (approximately 45-52% LDL reduction) while maintaining excellent tolerability. Rosuvastatin also provides pleiotropic cardiovascular benefits including endothelial function improvement, anti-inflammatory effects, and atherosclerotic plaque stabilization beyond lipid modification.
Purpose
Treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, familial hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous and homozygous), hypertriglyceridemia, prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with multiple risk factors, slowing atherosclerosis progression.

Warnings
Contraindicated in active liver disease, unexplained persistent transaminase elevations, pregnancy, breastfeeding, childbearing potential without contraception. Monitor for muscle symptoms - discontinue if CK significantly elevated or myopathy suspected. Asian ethnicity requires lower doses. Drug interactions with cyclosporine, gemfibrozil, protease inhibitors. Renal monitoring with high doses. Increased diabetes risk. Prescription medicine.
Side Effects
Headache, myalgia, abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, constipation, weakness. Less common: elevated liver enzymes, proteinuria, hematuria. Rare but serious: myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy, hepatic dysfunction.
Storage Instructions
Store at room temperature between 15-30°C. Protect from moisture. Keep in original container. Store out of reach of children.
