Doxycycline broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic for bacterial infections and acne treatment.
Axidox contains Doxycycline Hyclate, a broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic with enhanced tissue penetration and prolonged half-life. It demonstrates bacteriostatic activity by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. Doxycycline maintains effectiveness against many antibiotic-resistant organisms and offers additional anti-inflammatory properties beneficial in conditions like acne and rosacea. Its twice-daily dosing and excellent bioavailability make it a preferred tetracycline for various infections.
Purpose
Treatment of respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis), sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis), urinary tract infections, skin infections (cellulitis, impetigo, acne), eye infections, periodontitis, rickettsial infections, mycoplasma, malaria prophylaxis and adjunct treatment.

Warnings
Contraindicated in children under 8 years (permanent tooth discoloration), pregnancy, breastfeeding, severe liver disease. PHOTOSENSITIVITY - avoid excessive sunlight/UV exposure, use sunscreen. Take with adequate water to prevent esophageal ulceration. Avoid dairy products, antacids, iron supplements within 2-3 hours. May reduce oral contraceptive effectiveness. Risk of intracranial hypertension. Monitor for C. difficile diarrhea. Prescription antibiotic.
Side Effects
Gastrointestinal upset, nausea, diarrhea, esophageal irritation, photosensitivity, vaginal candidiasis. Less common: headache, dizziness, tooth discoloration (in children), pseudotumor cerebri. Rare: hepatotoxicity, blood disorders.
Storage Instructions
Store at room temperature below 25°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep in original container. Dispense in tight, light-resistant container. Store out of reach of children.
