Azm contains Azithromycin, a second-generation azalide macrolide antibiotic offering broad-spectrum coverage with superior pharmacokinetics. Purpose

Treatment of community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, acute bronchitis exacerbations, uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, urethritis and cervicitis, chancroid, mycoplasma infections, chlamydia infections, acute otitis media in children.

Ingredients

Azithromycin Dihydrate equivalent to Azithromycin 250mg

Warnings

Contraindicated in azithromycin/macrolide hypersensitivity, history of cholestatic jaundice/hepatic dysfunction with azithromycin use. CARDIAC WARNING - may prolong QT interval; avoid in prolonged QT, uncorrected hypokalemia/hypomagnesemia, clinically significant bradycardia, concurrent QT-prolonging drugs. Monitor for hepatotoxicity. Complete full course even if improved. Not for viral infections. May mask or delay syphilis symptoms. Drug interactions with numerous medications. Pregnancy/lactation considerations. Prescription antibiotic.

Side Effects

Gastrointestinal: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, vomiting, flatulence. Other: headache, dizziness, fatigue. Uncommon: hearing disturbances, QT prolongation, hepatotoxicity, photosensitivity, rash. Rare: severe hypersensitivity, Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
