High-dose amlodipine-valsartan combination for intensive blood pressure control in resistant hypertension.
Biforge 10/160mg is a fixed-dose combination of Amlodipine 10mg and Valsartan 160mg, providing maximal dual therapy for blood pressure control. This combination offers complementary mechanisms: amlodipine's calcium channel blockade provides vasodilation and afterload reduction, while valsartan's angiotensin II receptor blockade prevents vasoconstriction and reduces aldosterone secretion. The 10/160mg strength represents higher-dose combination therapy for patients requiring intensive blood pressure reduction who have not achieved adequate control with lower-dose combinations or monotherapy.
Purpose
Treatment of essential hypertension not adequately controlled on lower-dose combinations or monotherapy, intensive blood pressure reduction in high-risk patients, reduction of cardiovascular event risk.

Amlodipine Besylate equivalent to Amlodipine 10mg, Valsartan 160mg
Warnings
FETAL TOXICITY - discontinue immediately when pregnancy detected. Contraindicated in pregnancy, severe hepatic impairment. Use caution with renal artery stenosis, volume depletion, renovascular hypertension. Higher amlodipine dose increases edema risk. Monitor for symptomatic hypotension. Regular BP, renal function, and potassium monitoring required. Avoid with aliskiren in diabetes. Drug interactions with CYP3A4 inhibitors, NSAIDs, potassium supplements. Prescription medicine.
Side Effects
Peripheral edema (especially at high amlodipine dose), dizziness, headache, fatigue, hypotension, flushing, nausea, palpitations. Less common: hyperkalemia, renal dysfunction, syncope.
Storage Instructions
Store at room temperature between 15-30°C. Protect from moisture. Keep in original packaging. Store out of reach of children.
