Brolite contains Bromazepam, an intermediate-acting benzodiazepine with anxiolytic, sedative, and muscle relaxant properties. It enhances GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) neurotransmission by binding to benzodiazepine receptors, producing anxiolysis and sedation. The 3mg strength provides effective anxiety control while balancing efficacy with tolerability. Bromazepam is particularly useful for short-term management of severe anxiety, panic disorders, and as premedication before medical procedures. However, its use should be limited due to dependence and tolerance risks inherent to all benzodiazepines.

Purpose

Short-term treatment of severe anxiety disorders and panic attacks, premedication before minor surgical or medical procedures, short-term treatment of severe insomnia when other interventions ineffective (maximum 4 weeks).

Warnings

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE - risk of dependence and addiction. For short-term use only (2-4 weeks maximum). DO NOT STOP ABRUPTLY - serious withdrawal syndrome can occur. Contraindicated in sleep apnea, severe respiratory insufficiency, myasthenia gravis, acute narrow-angle glaucoma. AVOID ALCOHOL - dangerous interaction. Impairs driving and operating machinery. Can cause dangerous interactions with opioids. Dose reduction needed for elderly, liver/kidney impairment. Not for children. Pregnancy category D/X. Prescription medicine.

Side Effects

Drowsiness, sedation, ataxia (loss of coordination), memory impairment, dizziness, confusion, muscle weakness, headache, fatigue. Serious: psychological and physical dependence, tolerance, paradoxical reactions (agitation, aggression), respiratory depression (especially with other CNS depressants).

Storage Instructions

Store at room temperature between 15-25°C. Keep in original container tightly closed. Protect from light and moisture. Store securely out of reach of children and others due to abuse potential.
