Bromalex contains Bromazepam, an intermediate-duration benzodiazepine that provides anxiolytic effects through GABAergic enhancement in the central nervous system. It produces dose-dependent anxiolysis, sedation, muscle relaxation, and anticonvulsant effects. Bromazepam's intermediate half-life (10-20 hours) provides sustained anxiety relief without excessive accumulation. While effective for acute anxiety management, long-term use carries significant risks of tolerance, dependence, cognitive impairment, and withdrawal symptoms upon discontinuation.

Purpose

Short-term symptomatic treatment of severe anxiety disorders, panic attacks, acute anxiety episodes, premedication for minor surgery or medical procedures, adjunct for insomnia when severe anxiety present (limited duration).

Warnings

DEPENDENCE RISK - physical and psychological dependence can develop, even at therapeutic doses with short-term use. WITHDRAWAL - abrupt discontinuation causes serious withdrawal (seizures, tremors, psychosis). ONLY FOR SHORT-TERM USE (2-4 weeks maximum). Contraindicated in severe respiratory disease, sleep apnea, myasthenia gravis, acute glaucoma, severe liver disease. CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM DEPRESSION - avoid alcohol, opioids, other CNS depressants. Impairs cognition, memory, coordination - avoid driving. Not for pediatric use. Pregnancy/lactation contraindicated. Controlled substance requiring prescription.

Side Effects

Common: drowsiness, sedation, dizziness, ataxia, memory impairment (anterograde amnesia), headache, confusion. Serious: dependence, tolerance, withdrawal syndrome, respiratory depression, paradoxical disinhibition, depression, suicidal ideation.
