Risperidone 0.5mg tablets for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Dacorn 0.5mg contains risperidone, an atypical antipsychotic that antagonizes dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2 receptors. Used for schizophrenia, acute manic or mixed episodes in bipolar I disorder, and irritability associated with autistic disorder. Dose is individualized; 0.5mg is often used as starting dose. Pack of 100 tablets.
Purpose
Treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar I mania, and irritability associated with autistic disorder.
Ingredients
Risperidone 0.5mg per film-coated tablet.
Warnings
Not for dementia-related psychosis (increased mortality in elderly). Risk of NMS, tardive dyskinesia, metabolic syndrome. Do not drive until effects known.
Side Effects
Drowsiness, weight gain, hyperprolactinemia, extrapyramidal symptoms, orthostatic hypotension. Risk of metabolic changes and tardive dyskinesia.
