Empagliflozin 12.5mg and Metformin 1000mg XR for type 2 diabetes.
Empagen M XR 12.5/1000mg is a fixed-dose combination of empagliflozin (SGLT2 inhibitor) and metformin (extended-release). Empagliflozin reduces renal glucose reabsorption; metformin reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. Used for type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise are insufficient. Manufactured by Ferozsons.
Purpose
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
Ingredients
Empagliflozin 12.5mg and Metformin hydrochloride 1000mg (extended-release) per tablet.
Warnings
Contraindicated in severe renal impairment, diabetic ketoacidosis. Risk of lactic acidosis; avoid in conditions predisposing to hypoxia. Not for type 1 diabetes.
Side Effects
Genital and urinary tract infections, nausea, diarrhea. Rare: lactic acidosis (metformin), ketoacidosis.
