Empagliflozin/metformin XR 25/1000mg for type 2 diabetes.
Empagen M XR combines Empagliflozin 25mg (SGLT2 inhibitor) and Metformin 1000mg extended-release for type 2 diabetes. It improves glycaemic control and can reduce cardiovascular death and heart failure hospitalisation when indicated.
Purpose
Type 2 diabetes with diet and exercise; cardiovascular death and heart failure risk reduction when applicable.
Ingredients
Empagliflozin 25mg, Metformin Hydrochloride 1000mg (extended-release)
Warnings
Not for type 1 diabetes or DKA. Lactic acidosis risk with metformin. Avoid if eGFR below 45. Prescription only.
Side Effects
UTI, genital mycotic infection, volume depletion, lactic acidosis (metformin). Rare: DKA.
