Empagen M Xr (5/1000mg) 14Tab combines empagliflozin 5mg and metformin 1000mg extended-release for type 2 diabetes. SGLT2 inhibitor plus metformin for glycaemic control. Take as directed with food.

Purpose

Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, exercise and metformin or empagliflozin alone do not achieve adequate glycaemic control.

Ingredients

Empagliflozin 5mg and metformin hydrochloride 1000mg (XR) per tablet; 14 tablets.

Warnings

Contraindicated in severe renal impairment, diabetic ketoacidosis, type 1 diabetes. Assess renal function. Discontinue before iodinated contrast if indicated. Report signs of DKA or lactic acidosis.

Side Effects

Genital fungal infections, urinary tract infection, nausea, diarrhoea. Rare: lactic acidosis (metformin), DKA. Report severe abdominal pain or signs of infection.
