Glimepiride 2.5mg and Metformin 500mg combination for type 2 diabetes.
Glimet 2.5/500mg is a fixed-dose combination of glimepiride and metformin. Glimepiride stimulates insulin secretion from the pancreas; metformin reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. Together they provide dual-action blood glucose control for type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.
Purpose
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
Ingredients
Glimepiride 2.5mg and Metformin hydrochloride 500mg per tablet.
Warnings
Contraindicated in severe renal impairment, metabolic acidosis. Risk of lactic acidosis; avoid in conditions that predispose to hypoxia. Not for type 1 diabetes.
Side Effects
Hypoglycemia, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and lactic acidosis (rare but serious with metformin).
