Glyceryl trinitrate 0.3% ointment for angina prophylaxis.
Gtn 0.3% 15Gm is glyceryl trinitrate (nitroglycerin) ointment for topical use in the prophylaxis of angina pectoris. It is applied to the skin and absorbed transdermally to provide sustained nitrate effect, dilating veins and arteries and reducing cardiac preload and afterload. Used when oral nitrates are not suitable or as adjunct.
Purpose
Prophylaxis of angina pectoris in patients with coronary artery disease.
Ingredients
Glyceryl trinitrate (nitroglycerin) 0.3% w/w in ointment base; 15g pack.
Warnings
Contraindicated with phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (e.g. sildenafil). Do not use for acute angina; use short-acting nitrate for attacks. Caution in severe hypotension and aortic stenosis.
Side Effects
Headache, dizziness, flushing, hypotension, reflex tachycardia. Tolerance may develop with continuous use.
Storage Instructions
Store below 25°C in a dry place. Keep tube tightly closed. Protect from light and heat.
