Metformin modified-release 400/500mg for type 2 diabetes.
Metodine Df (400/500mg) is a modified-release combination containing metformin and possibly another antidiabetic agent for type 2 diabetes. The Df (double-layer or delayed-release) formulation provides sustained release to improve tolerability and compliance. Used as adjunct to diet and exercise.
Purpose
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus as adjunct to diet and exercise.
Ingredients
Metformin and other active ingredients as per pack; total strength 400mg/500mg per tablet (modified-release).
Warnings
Contraindicated in severe renal impairment and diabetic ketoacidosis. Risk of lactic acidosis; avoid in conditions that predispose to hypoxia. Not for type 1 diabetes.
Side Effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort, metallic taste. Rare: lactic acidosis. Report unexplained muscle pain, breathing difficulty, or unusual tiredness.
