Metodine Tab
Methyldopa tablets for high blood pressure; centrally acting antihypertensive.
Metodine contains methyldopa, a centrally acting antihypertensive. It is metabolized to alpha-methylnorepinephrine, which stimulates central inhibitory alpha-adrenergic receptors, relaxing blood vessels and reducing heart workload. Used for hypertension, including in pregnancy when other agents are not suitable. Manufactured by Searle.

Treatment of hypertension.
Ingredients
Methyldopa per tablet (strength as per pack).
Warnings
Contraindicated in active hepatic disease and with MAO inhibitors. Do not stop abruptly. Iron may reduce absorption.
Side Effects
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth. May cause positive Coombs test, hemolytic anemia, liver disorders.
Storage Instructions
Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from light.
