Olopatadine is a relatively selective histamine H1 antagonist and inhibitor of the release of histamine from the mast cells. Decreased chemotaxis and inhibition of eosinophil activation has also been demonstrated. Olopatadine is devoid of effect on alpha-adrenergic , dopaminergic, and muscarinic type 1 and 2 receptors.

Warnings
Administer by the nasal route only .
Monitor patients periodically for signs of adverse effects on the nasal mucosa. Discontinue if ulcerations or perforations occur. Avoid use in patients with nasal disease other than allergic rhinitis .
Avoid concurrent use of alcohol or other central nervous system depressants .

Bad or bitter taste , throat pain , cough , headache , nose congestion , urinary tract infection , headache , rash , upper respiratory tract infection , fever
