Rifaximin 550mg tablets for travellers' diarrhoea and hepatic encephalopathy.
Xifaxa 550mg contains rifaximin, a non-absorbable antibiotic used for travellers' diarrhoea, hepatic encephalopathy prevention, and certain gut conditions. It acts mainly in the gut with minimal systemic absorption. Take as directed.
Purpose
Treatment of travellers' diarrhoea caused by non-invasive E. coli; reduction in risk of overt hepatic encephalopathy recurrence in adults.
Ingredients
Rifaximin 550mg per tablet.
Warnings
Prescription only. Not for systemic infections. Report severe diarrhoea or abdominal pain. Caution in severe hepatic impairment. Complete course as directed.
Side Effects
Oedema, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, ascites. Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea may occur. Report severe or bloody diarrhoea.
Storage Instructions
Store below 25°C in a dry place. Keep in original pack; protect from moisture.
