Oxiconazole nitrate cream works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. By disrupting the production of ergosterol, it compromises the integrity of the fungal cell membrane, leading to leakage of cellular contents and ultimately the death of the fungus. This makes it effective in treating various fungal skin infections.

Warnings
Use oxiconazole nitrate as directed by the physician. The hands is advised to be washed after applying the medication to the affected area(s). Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, and other mucous membranes. Oxiconazole nitrate is for external use only .
Use the medication for the full treatment time recommended by the physician, even though symptoms may have improved. Notify the physician if there is no improvement after 2 to 4 weeks, or sooner if the condition worsens .
Avoid the use of occlusive dressings unless otherwise directed by the physician.
Side Effects
Itching , erythema , stinging , dryness , transient burning , local irritation .
