Zeenamet (2/500mg) 30 Tablets
Combination antidiabetic tablet (glimepiride 2mg, metformin 500mg) for type 2 diabetes when diet and single therapy are insufficient.
Zeenamet combines glimepiride and metformin to control blood sugar in type 2 diabetes. Glimepiride stimulates insulin release from the pancreas; metformin reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity. Used with diet and exercise when a single agent is insufficient.
Purpose
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, exercise and glimepiride or metformin alone do not achieve adequate glycaemic control.
Ingredients
Glimepiride 2mg, metformin hydrochloride 500mg (per tablet).
Warnings
Contraindicated in type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal impairment, severe hepatic impairment, and hypersensitivity. Risk of hypoglycaemia; avoid alcohol. Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical advice.
Side Effects
Hypoglycaemia, nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, metallic taste, rash. Lactic acidosis (rare, serious) and hepatic effects have been reported with metformin.
Storage Instructions
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Keep in original pack; protect from light and moisture.
