Olanzapine 25mg tablets for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Ziapine 25mg contains olanzapine, an atypical antipsychotic that acts on dopamine and serotonin receptors. It is used for schizophrenia, bipolar I disorder (mania and maintenance), and as an adjunct in treatment-resistant depression. The 25mg strength is for maintenance or when higher doses are required.
Purpose
Treatment of schizophrenia; treatment of manic episodes and maintenance in bipolar I disorder; adjunct in treatment-resistant depression when prescribed.
Ingredients
Olanzapine 25mg per tablet.
Warnings
Increased mortality in elderly with dementia-related psychosis. Monitor weight, glucose, and lipids. Caution in cardiovascular disease. Avoid abrupt withdrawal.
Side Effects
Weight gain, somnolence, dry mouth, dizziness, increased appetite, hyperglycaemia, dyslipidaemia. Rare: neuroleptic malignant syndrome, tardive dyskinesia. Report unexplained fever or muscle rigidity.
