Zolid Plus combines linezolid (an oxazolidinone antibiotic) with another agent for the treatment of certain Gram-positive bacterial infections when other options are unsuitable. It is reserved for serious infections and must be used under specialist or hospital guidance to minimise resistance and monitor for adverse effects.
Purpose
Treatment of infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria when other antibiotics are not suitable (e.g. certain skin/soft tissue, pneumonia, or other indications as approved).
Ingredients
Linezolid and other active ingredient(s) as per approved formulation; refer to local prescribing information.
Warnings
Prescription only. Myelosuppression and neuropathy (including optic) reported; monitor blood counts and vision with prolonged use. Avoid tyramine-rich foods and serotonergic drugs unless advised. Not for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical advice.
Side Effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, rash, myelosuppression (anaemia, thrombocytopenia, leucopenia), peripheral and optic neuropathy with prolonged use. Serotonin syndrome if combined with serotonergic drugs.
