Dextrose 25% 25ml (1 Ampule / Pack) is a highly concentrated, hypertonic sterile intravenous solution of D-glucose formulated for immediate systemic carbohydrate replenishment. Administered directly into the venous circulation, it provides rapid, unhindered calories and raises blood glucose concentrations to instantly reverse severe acute hypoglycemia and protect central nervous system function.

Purpose

Supplies immediate, bioavailable direct blood glucose to vital tissues, elevating blood sugar levels and reversing metabolic shock.

Warnings

Administer strictly via an intravenous route; localized subcutaneous or intramuscular infiltration can induce severe tissue necrosis. Infuse at a controlled, measured rate to avoid precipitating acute hyperosmolar syndrome, severe hyperglycemia, or fluid overload. Meticulously monitor systemic fluid balance and serum electrolyte patterns, particularly in individuals with renal or cardiac insufficiency. Do not administer concurrently through the same infusion tubing as whole blood elements to avoid severe pseudoagglutination.

Side Effects

Transient localized venous irritation, chemical phlebitis, or burning at the site of injection. Rapid shifts in fluid balance leading to localized cellular dehydration if infused too rapidly. Rebound or transient hyperglycemia post-infusion requiring close blood sugar monitoring. Minor localized swelling or bruising over the cannulated venous structure.
