Senokot Syrup is an oral stimulant laxative used to provide predictable, short-term relief from occasional constipation.
Senna glycosides undergo bacterial cleavage in the colon into active anthrones, which stimulate the myenteric plexus to increase propulsive peristalsis. Concurrently, it inhibits water and electrolyte reabsorption and promotes fluid secretion into the intestinal lumen, increasing intraluminal pressure and softening the stool for rapid evacuation.
Purpose
It is indicated for the treatment of occasional constipation and for bowel evacuation prior to radiological examinations, endoscopic procedures, or proctological surgery.

Warnings
- Do not use if you have severe, undiagnosed stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting. - Avoid using continuously for more than 7 days to prevent bowel dependence and electrolyte loss. - Consult a doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or notice sudden changes in bowel habits.
Side Effects
- You may experience abdominal cramps, mild stomach pain, or gas. - The syrup can cause temporary diarrhea or loose stools if the dose is too high. - A harmless reddish-brown discoloration of your urine may occur.
