Doxazosin is an alpha-blocker used to treat high blood pressure and to relieve urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate. It works by relaxing blood vessels and the muscles around the bladder neck and prostate, improving blood flow and urine flow. It is usually taken once daily, often at bedtime, to reduce the effect of a drop in blood pressure. Dose is often started low and increased gradually under medical guidance.
